In
the years since I began painting professionally, I attempted many subjects
and various mediums. Earlier, my paintings predominantly featured the colours
of the Australian bush, sienna and violet, as I reflected my natural surroundings,
painting bush subjects, cattle, horses, stockmen working at their jobs on
cattle stations in the remote outback, striving to capture a little of their
character on paper and canvas. After moving to the coast ,I had great difficulty
adapting from the warm colours of the outback to the cool colours of my
new environment. Over time, this new pallette, with its ever-changing colours
of the ocean, became an inspiration impossible to ignore. |
